RV Service Serving Tustin: What the Word Covers and How It Works

RV service is an umbrella term covering six departments: collision and structural, paint and body, interior, roof and slide and awning, mechanical and systems, plus fabrication and detail. OCRV Center runs all six under one roof in Yorba Linda near Tustin, with posted labor rates and a written authorization before any work starts.

What are the six departments and which one do you need?

Every job that comes through the gate belongs to one of six, and larger jobs cross several.

  1. Collision and structural. Impact damage, frame work, fiberglass. Start at collision and structural.
  2. Paint and body. Refinishing, panel repair, decals and wraps. Start at paint and body.
  3. Interior. Cabinetry, flooring, upholstery, wall panels, countertops. Start at interior services.
  4. Roof, slide and awning. Membranes, sealant, slide mechanisms, awning fabric and arms. Start at roof, slide and awning.
  5. Mechanical and systems. Electrical, plumbing, generators, appliances, heating and cooling. Start at mechanical and systems.
  6. Additional services. Fabrication, welding, detail, inspection and evaluation. Start at additional services.

The full catalog with every operation listed sits on the services hub. This page covers how the shop itself works once you have picked a department.

What does an hour cost, and why does the rate change by department?

Because the equipment, certification and consumables behind each hour are different. The four posted rates:

  • $210 per hour for body and paint, plus paint supplies calculated at $55 per paint hour and body supplies at $5 per body hour.
  • $260 per hour for mechanical and electrical.
  • $285 per hour for diagnostics, scan and programming, with a one hour minimum applied as a credit against an authorized repair.
  • $95 per hour for detail.

Parts carry markup on a sliding scale, a hazmat charge applies where waste is generated, and sales tax applies to parts and materials but not to labor. Publishing all of that is unusual in this trade and it is deliberate: a customer who can multiply the rate by the hours can check the estimate. The full breakdown is on the prices page.

What happens between drop off and pickup?

Six stages, and knowing them removes most of the anxiety in a long repair.

Intake. The vehicle is received, photographed and logged. Bring the keys to every compartment, and tell us about anything already broken that is not part of this visit.

Evaluation. An RV systems estimate is $150, applied as a credit against an authorized repair. A collision estimate carries no charge. An in depth diagnostic is one hour at $285, also applied as a credit.

Authorization. Nothing proceeds without written approval of the scope. On insurance work, that includes the carrier's approval, which is frequently the longest single wait in the process.

Parts. Special order parts require a deposit at order and are not returnable, which is why we confirm part numbers against your serial and floor plan before ordering.

Repair. Work proceeds in trade order, structural before cosmetic, hidden before finished.

Pickup. A walk through at the vehicle, then the balance. Deposits are half on work over $2,000 with an additional portion over $10,000, and no vehicle leaves the property until it is paid in full.

Why is everything done in shop?

Because the equipment cannot travel. The frame rack is bolted to the floor. The paint booth is a building within a building. The lift capacity for a diesel pusher is a fixed installation. Roof work bonds correctly only on a dry, temperature stable surface under cover. Every one of those constraints points to the same conclusion, and the 35,000 square foot Yorba Linda facility is where all of it lives.

The practical benefit for you is that a job never gets split. Nothing is sent to a second shop and billed back, which is where cycle time and accountability normally disappear. One estimate, one facility, one point of contact.

If the vehicle is not drivable, raise that at first contact and the conversation shifts to flatbed logistics and where to set it down on arrival. Details are on the service area page.

How should you describe a problem so the estimate is accurate?

In symptoms and conditions, not conclusions. The difference between a useful call and a wasted one is usually one sentence.

Not useful: the slide is broken. Useful: the living room slide extends about four inches, clicks, then stops, and it started after the batteries went flat last month.

The second version names the mechanism behaviour, the point of failure in travel and a likely contributing condition. That is enough for an estimator to predict the department, the likely hours and the parts risk before the vehicle arrives.

Same principle for water: not "there is a leak" but "a stain appeared on the ceiling panel behind the bathroom after the first rain, and the roof was resealed two seasons ago." Send that plus photographs through the quote request form, and if you would rather read first, the common questions are collected on the FAQ page.

Questions we get asked

Do I need an appointment or can I just bring the RV in?

Insurance walk ins for a collision estimate are always welcome and carry no charge. For everything else, contact us first so the right technician and enough yard space are available. A 40 foot coach arriving unannounced on a full day is a problem for both of us, and scheduling avoids it.

Will you tell me the labor hours before I authorize the work?

Yes. Estimates are written as line items with hours shown per operation, so you can multiply the posted rate yourself and check the arithmetic. That is the point of publishing rates at all. If teardown changes the scope, a supplement is written the same way rather than added quietly to the total.

What deposits do you take?

Half on work over $2,000, with an additional portion on work over $10,000. Special order parts require a deposit at order because they are not returnable. Card payments over a threshold carry a surcharge. The full deposit and payment terms are set out on the prices page rather than raised at pickup.

Are there repairs you do not do?

Yes, and it is better to say so up front. Engine and drivetrain internal work is not performed here, and neither are state administered vehicle inspection programmes. This is a collision, body, structural, systems and interior facility. If a job needs a drivetrain specialist we will tell you at the estimate rather than after the vehicle is apart.

Tell us what happened to it.

Describe the damage and we will give you a real scope, a cost range and an honest answer about how long it sits here. Serving Tustin from the Yorba Linda shop.
