Because almost every vehicle in this group was converted by somebody, and the quality range is enormous. A professionally built unit with documented wiring, sealed penetrations and a properly reinforced floor is straightforward to work on. A unit built quickly by whoever was available is a discovery exercise. The three things that separate them are wiring, penetrations and floor structure. Wiring that was tapped rather than distributed produces faults that move around. Penetrations for vents, flues, water and cable that were sealed with the wrong material leak into the floor. Floors that carry equipment without reinforcement flex, and flexing floors crack finishes, break seals and loosen everything mounted to them. Four things beyond the usual. What permits or inspections you operate under, and whether any of them have to be renewed after work is done. What equipment is installed, who installed it and whether it is owned or financed. What your booking calendar looks like for the next month. And whether the vehicle is drivable as it stands. The permit question is the one operators forget and the one that costs them days. A repair that touches a food preparation surface, a water system, a gas appliance or an electrical distribution panel may put you back in front of an inspector before you can trade, and that appointment has its own lead time. Financed equipment matters because the finance company has an interest in it and sometimes in the vehicle. Say so at intake rather than at invoice. ## Questions ### How fast can you get me back trading? It depends entirely on whether a part has to be ordered and whether an inspection has to follow. Specialist appliances such as refrigeration machinery and commercial cooking equipment belong with their own technicians, and we will tell you where the boundary sits on your unit. ### My build was done badly. Is it worth fixing or replacing? Usually fixing, provided the shell and the floor structure are sound. What is rarely worth saving is wiring that was improvised, because chasing faults through it costs more over two years than replacing it once. Vinyl wrap runs $1,500 to $9,500, decal and graphics replacement $500 to $5,500 and custom paint graphics are available.
